Awareness of " Youth and Addiction" for students of St. Stanislaus School, Bandra, Mumbai


Awareness Programme for Students
 
On 24th of September, Kripa Bandra organized an awareness program titled "Youth and addiction for 80 Catholic students from St Stanislaus High school Bandra of Standard 10.
 
This programme was namely organized by the parish priest Fr. Errol Fernandes Sj. with the help of the animators of St. Peters parish. The student listened with rapt attention throughout the presentation. A similar program will be held for the non-Catholic students in the near future.

Tata Power delegates visit Kripa Vasai


On 03rd October 2013, High Ranking officials from Tata Power consisting of Management and Employees Union representatives visited Kripa Vasai. The purpose of this visit was to take the Employee Assistance Programme already in progress on a higher level. The proposed activities decided would be to have intense awareness programmes at the work place, residential colony of Tata Power Employees, Out Patient services, Admission for those employees requiring In-house treatment, Counseling sessions and Follow up programmes to monitor their progress in recovery from addiction and family support.
The half day programme started with a traditional, ‘Aarti’ followed by a tour of the Kripa centre. A testimony by two patients in treatment, a power point presentation on activities and screening of the Kripa film, ‘God’s Grace’.
 
The teams from Tata Power and Kripa sat in a closed door meeting to discuss minute details and progress of the on going Employee Assistance Program at the Tata Power plant in Chembur, Mumbai.

The Tata team expressed their gratitude to Fr. Joe for the enlightening yoga seesion that he conducted at the Thermal Power station before he left for his tour abroad.
  
A sumptuous lunch with a well spread buffet table prepared by the in-house Chefsof Kripa Vasai was well savored by all present.

Sensitization Programme on Alcoholism and HIV/AIDS
 
On 16th September 2013, Kripa Shillong conducted a Sensitization Programme on Prevention of Alcoholism and HIV AIDS for 40 participants at Smit Village. The programme was sponsored by The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Meghalaya.
 
The Community members were sensitized on topics like, Different Types of Drugs, Myths and Misconceptions, Family Support, Treatment and Rehabilitation, Life Skills

Outreach Programme for students
 
On 23rd September 2013, Kripa Pune conducted an Outreach Programme for Students of Camp Education Society in collaboration with Karve Institute of Social Sciences.
 
The students were explained the various topics of Addiction and HIV AIDS and the dangers of addictive substances and made aware of the Kripa Model of Recovery. IEC materials were made available. A questionnaire was given to the students to assess their involvement with the programme and their gain by it.

On 05th September 2013, Kripa Shillong conducted an Orientation Programme on Alcoholism and HIV AIDS for around 50 BSW Students of Women College. The programme was sponsored by The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Meghalaya.
 
The students were explained the different aspects of Addiction and HIV AIDS followed by a question-answer session. Sharing of life experiences by the Resource team concluded the programme.

Orientation Programme for Students
 
On 20th September 2013, Kripa Vasai conducted an Orientation Programme for around 7 Students of Gonsalo Garcia College at the centre itself. The students had to present a project on Drug Addiction and Alcoholism and having heard of the extensive work done by the organization in Vasai chose Kripa Vasai as their centre
 
They were conducted a tour of the centre, followed by interactions with patients who gave their testimonies. Topics on Addiction, Addictive Personality, Kripa Model of Recovery, Role of the Family, Counseling Skills and the like served the purpose of the students visit.

In response to a call from the school authorities, Kripa Shillong conducted an Awareness Programme on Substance Abuse and HIV AIDS on 19th September 2013 for students of Class VIII, IX and X of Mary Mount School.
 
The students posed many queries that was answered by the Resource team who clarified their doubts on Substance Abuse and HIV AIDS. They were told to refrain from an addictive lifestyle and should they require counseling, to contact the centre at the earliest. They were also informed to refer clients to the centre for timely help and support.

On 23rd September 2013, Kripa Pune conducted an Awareness Programme for 65 Students of Dr. Ambedkar Technical High School in collaboration with Karve Institute of Social Sciences.
The students were explained the various topics of Addiction and HIV AIDS and the dangers of addictive substances and made aware of the Kripa Model of Recovery. IEC materials were made available. A questionnaire was given to the students to assess their involvement with the programme and techniques were discussed as to how to help an addict to bring him in the recovery programme.

Awareness Programme for Autodrivers
 
On 27th September 2013, Kripa Vasai conducted an Awareness Programme for Community Members, Autorickshaw drivers at Nalla Sopara Station.
 
The programme was organized by local leaders and Social Workers from the area in view of the rising intake of alcohol in the area. The Resource team distributed pamphlets and continuously gave information on the various activities and services of the organization to members of the General Community.

Kripa wishes ELFA Board member Shri Hitendra Thakurji on his birthday

On the 3rd of October 2013 ElFA member ( Elected Leaders Forum against AIDS) celebrated his birthday. Bosco D'Souza and Mrs. Jean Pereira wished him at his office in Virar on behalf of Fr. joe and the Kripa Family. To greet thousands of guest were Mr.Raju Patil- 1st Mayor of Vasai- Virar, MLA Kshitij Thakur and other party dignatories. Mr. Hitendra Thakur is also the president of the political party Bahujan Vikas Aagadhi. Newsdesk

Fr. Joe conducts a WCCM weekend retreat in Brazil


In his recent visit to Brazil, doing intense Kripafoundation Iyengar Yoga, Fr Joe had an opportunity to conducted a weekend retreat with the WCCM group in Campinas. The group  got more enlightened  with the teachings of John Main and enriched themselves especially  in the manner in which Fr. Joe conducted the retreat.
